Orlando Home Inspection
How to Hire a Qualified Orlando Home Inspector
By Bruce Lunsford, CMA, RPI
Hiring a qualified, quality Home Inspection Service in Orlando can be difficult. Home Inspectors in Florida are not regulated in any way. Anyone can, and often does call themselves a home inspector. And while there are some qualified, quality Orlando Home Inspectors available, they can be hard to find.
This page is provided as a service to educate home buyers on how to hire a qualified Orlando Home Inspection Service. I do not personally perform Home Inspections in Orlando, and I have no financial interest in any Home Inspection Service in Orlando. I am however a Certified Member of ASHI and a Registered Professional Inspector and a past president of INASHI.
Since many, many Home Inspectors in the Orlando area are not qualified, how does one go about hiring a "top tier" home inspector?
First you should look at their certifications, and verify they are real. Many unqualified home inspectors will lie about ASHI or FABI certifications, or merely imply they are a member without actually saying it.
ASHI and FABI memberships are the two most prestigious certifications an Orlando Home Inspector can have. To find ASHI or FABI members you may go to their web sites, www.ashi.org and www.fabi.org
Lastly, you need to make sure you avoid Orlando Home Inspectors that display diploma mill certifications - and there are a lot of them. The largest of the diploma mill certifications is NACHI. Feel free to go to their web site at NACHI dot org to see how easy it is to become a member. It's basically pay a fee, take their 120 question unproctored quiz and you're a "certified home inspector" no matter what your experience level is.
